Exports, plans and what counts

What uses up your monthly export count and what does not.

On the Free plan you get a set number of visual exports each month. The count resets at the start of each calendar month.

What counts:

  • Pressing Export in Visual Designer and getting a .pbiviz file.

What does not count:

  • Working in the editor, however long you spend and however many times the preview redraws.
  • Downloading a theme JSON, copying a DAX measure, or exporting a template background.
  • Re-downloading a file your browser already has.

If a quota error appears, nothing about your design is changed: the version number does not move and the design is not marked as exported. You can upgrade and export the same design without losing anything.
