Importing a visual into Power BI
Where the Import option lives, and what to do when your organization blocks it.
In Power BI Desktop, the visuals pane has a "..." button. Under it, choose Import a visual from a file and pick your .pbiviz.
Two things commonly get in the way:
- Your organization may block custom visuals that are not certified. That is a tenant setting, not something the file can change; an admin has to allow it. Ask for "allow visuals that are not in the organizational store", or have the visual added to your organizational store.
- If you re-export a design, Power BI keeps the version it already has. Import the new file and confirm the replacement when it asks.
The visual keeps the same identifier across exports of the same design, which is what lets Power BI recognize an update rather than treating it as a different visual.
