Using a theme JSON

How to apply the generated theme, and what it does and does not control.

Download the JSON from the Theme Generator, then in Power BI Desktop go to View, Themes, Browse for themes and pick the file.

A theme sets the defaults: the color sequence charts cycle through, text sizes and colors, and how visual containers look (background, border, shadow, rounded corners).

It does not override anything you have already set by hand on a specific visual. If a chart keeps its old color after applying a theme, that color was set directly on the visual; clear it with the Reset to default option on that setting.

Themes apply to the whole report file, so the same JSON keeps every page consistent.
